Hey everyone, today I want to show you how to use Grammarly, And how Grammarly is an assistant for your writing. So it’s an AI power writing assistant. And it comes with a free plugin for the web.

So, for example, if you use Google Chrome, which I’m generally using to browse the internet and go to grammarly.com, it’s automatically going to detect and recommend that you get the Grammarly Chrome plugin.

If I were using Safari, for example, it would suggest I get the safari plugin. And if you go on a mobile device, it will recommend getting the app for iOS or Android. In this article, I want to focus on grammarly.com and use it on the internet to solve your grammar and spelling issues in things like Gmail, Google Docs, and your social media.

Everything that’s listed here and more, and it’s just not for spelling, eliminates errors and finds other words to express yourself. And that’s all for free. Now let me show you a couple of other things that Grammarly offers. And that is Grammarly premium. So before showing you the free plugin, let me go ahead to show you the paid features. It elevates your writing even more.

Therefore you could use it if you’re a professional writer, for example, or if you want to get more benefits, here are the features that compare to the free model.

Also, you get the readability vocabulary enhancement suggestions and some of these other things that don’t come with the free version. So you could go ahead and check this out for yourself. And they do run deals all the time. Here is the link to this for you. So you could get it, I believe you could pay monthly, or you could pay for a whole year here if you want to use a paid plan, but I recommend you try the free method here as well.

Also, there are desktop apps as well. So I’m on Windows here, so It will auto-detect that I could get this version. Again, I will focus on the browser plugin here, but there’s also a Grammarly plugin for Microsoft Office. For Windows, you could also get that. So let me go ahead and add it to Chrome, then I’ll show you exactly how to use it. And it’s a Chrome extension in my case. But, again, as I said, you could use any browser that you want, and you’ll have an extension for it.

So then you could go ahead and sign up with Google Facebook or your email if you are new; otherwise, do log in with your username and password.

Let me go on my laptop, sign in, fill out the registration form, and let you know about Grammarly’s paid features and show you some of the things that the free version does not cover.

So this is a freemium model, meaning they give you a little bit for free. That should take care of most basic problems like spelling and grammar, but the paid upgrade of Grammarly includes everything like overused words, synonyms, plagiarism, etc. So I’m going to do the free one right here. And as I mentioned before, this will work on Gmail. For example, if you’re using Gmail to draft the email, basically anything you do online, this Grammarly plugin will work for, including Google Docs.

But if you are working on desktop Gmail, then I recommend getting the desktop app and the premium version if you’re doing things outside of the web, but let’s take a look at the essential things you could do with Grammarly is spellcheck. So right now, in the diagram, you can see the things underlined here are spellcheck, so you can see what it’s going to recommend. It is the correct spelling notice so that I could fix it, just like clicking on it.

And then it’s going next to have a list of other things there. Therefore I could go through each one and then go ahead and change it by clicking on them again based on grammar and spelling. So just like that, It corrects an extra space there as the plugin detected. Like this, you could click there to remove that space.

And I could go ahead and show the correct version there. The blue items there will make it more transparent by changing the voice in grammar (Active or Passive). So it’s going to say changes to blue underline instead of underlines that are blue.

If I could fix it that way, you get the idea here, but I want to show you a real-life application and take it to Google Docs. Ok, I could show you outside of Grammarly what it could do. So what if you want to check your text and not the demo text is simple, you will have this little icon on the bottom-right that you just got from downloading the plugin.

If you click this, you can start with a new document. And if you press this is going to bring you to a blank page. So I could go ahead and copy and paste something here. Again, this does work on separate applications as well. So I’ll show you in a second what it looks like in Gmail. But let me go ahead and type a brief text here. And then I’ll show you what happens next.

So I’ll go ahead and go to a different document on Google docs and let me copy this section here. And paste it over the newly opened Grammarly window.

The first time I use this will give me some default options like your audience, formality, and tone. I could either reset these to default or select what I want and press Done. So I found a couple of issues for me, e.g. some misspelt words. So, therefore, I’ll click here to change that. Also, sometimes, over here, it can say to eradicate unnecessary words. So I’ll go ahead and remove that altogether.

It is recommending new words that only the premium version will do, like these additional writing issues. So this is not going to solve it with the free option. But the free option did check a couple of things for spelling and grammar, and then it will set you an overall score there.

So this is good to look at to make sure we as close to overall-score 100 as you can. And you do have some options on the bottom of this page to make things bold.

So, for example, if you wanted to underline the headline by adding links, create a number or bullet point list on the bottom of the page, as you can see in the picture. And it’s going to give you a word count, your character counts and your readability score right on the bottom of the page.

And let me show you how to see all the documents that you’ve corrected here. If you go to this plugin icon one more time, you could go to your Grammarly Home. As long as you’re locked into app.grammarly.com, you’ll see everything that you did to demo documents and the new one I just added here.

Now you could go ahead and create a new one or upload a document right over there using these options. And this has your regular settings like logging out and your account information right on the left panel here.

But let me jump into Gmail to show you what happens when you make mistakes. They’re drafted in an email. So let me press compose an email here on Gmail, and Grammarly automatically detected that I’m using Gmail.

So it’s going to allow me to personalize it if I want to. I’m going to go ahead and skip for now, but you could go ahead and go through this process if you wish. Let me go ahead and paste a different piece of text there and show you what happens with Grammarly. Now it’s going to do its work.

And then it’s going to give you recommendations and enhancements. In this case, it will tell me, and I need to make it more transparent. And if I click that, it’s going to bring it to the Grammarly plugin for Gmail. And I can make my changes right here the same way I previously told you things would pop up right here.

So you could click it and make the changes. And some things are going to be part of the premium version, but your overall score. And again, those basic things like correctness, clarity is all here as part of the free version.

Now I could go back to Gmail over here. And now I know Grammarly accurately scans everything that I typed out. So you can see that down here. And the premium version is going to give you a star right here.

Such things as advanced corrections are going to be part of that premium. Once again, I just jumped into a script on Google Docs.

So I have to turn on Grammarly. And it’s going to ask you if you want to check it out. I’m going to let it check out. Again, usually on the corner of the page, a little icon will be rendered where you’re on.

On Facebook, if you’re doing a post, it will be working in the corner over here. But he found one issue here. And all I have to do instead of coming over here, I could click on it a lot of times in different apps.

You could also click on it and make the changes right here. For your comfort, you don’t have to open the Grammarly separate window so that I could make the change right here right now. Now let me jump back to the demo doc on the Grammarly screen where we first started doing everything.

Usually, when you’re using this one, that’s where you press the Grammarly icon and make a new document that will bring you to this page where you can paste your text.

Grammarly Free Vs Paid Features

There are options on the left side of it here to jump back to the home. I showed you that a little bit ago, the left-side panel could create a new document upload, download print documents, and all the other options on the left side of the page.

But most of them are pretty straightforward, and things like cutting and pasting and copying I do with many keyboard shortcuts. But you may want to know where to upload new documents and where to create new documents from scratch and paste things to them right there.

Another significant benefit of Grammarly and I use this all the time, is when you’re on a browser-based website like YouTube, and you are just uploading a video writing your description. It just detects the typos as you type on. Even you don’t have to right-click, but just hover your mouse over, and you could change something just by clicking right on the suggestions.

Then you see in this corner you could see how many errors you have. And the premium option gives you even more options, but the red one shows you the problems and that you need to fix them. This works with not only descriptions but also when you comment on something, and it will work on all social media, not just YouTube and all web-based applications.

Grammarly’s iPad app removes the Internet browser from the equation.

Grammarly may be a valuable service, but so far, iPad users had to depend on an online browser to open the Grammarly Editor for writing articles and getting real-time corrections and other linguistic inputs.

Because of the Grammarly Keyboard app for iPad, an iPad-optimized version of the Grammarly Editor, that hassle ends now. All you’ve got to try and do now could be open the Grammarly app on your iPad, register together with your account (or make a replacement one), and you’re good to travel.

Furthermore, the Grammarly app supports keyboard flicks and iPad-optimized layouts. And after you don’t seem to be inside the Grammarly app and are typing something in another app, you’ll still be ready to see Grammarly’s writing suggestions at the highest of the keyboard.
